Pain, disease and loss open the very deepest wells of the soul. I’ve witnessed the beauty on the other side of pain many times through a lens and this session was no exception. This sweet client turned friend (and fellow photographer) lost her courageous battle with breast cancer. During her family's session a few years ago, Aliza needed no prompts to lean in and linger long. Her love for her family led her, and every image shows it. I miss Aliza's warmth, smile, and invitational spirit.

There is honestly no higher honor (or calling) for me than to wade into deep waters with my camera and celebrate life and love across the spectrum of life.
